Senior Finance Process Lead - Payroll

About the role

The Senior Finance Process Lead works out of the San Jose, Costa Rica office in the Finance Global Operations Center, as part of the global payroll team. The role oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with statutory requirements and effective team management.

Key responsibilities

• Process employee salaries, benefits and statutory deductions accurately and on time, reviewing and validating payroll inputs such as attendance, bonuses, incentives and reimbursements.
• Ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations and company policies, and resolve payroll issues with HR, Finance and other stakeholders.
• Perform final reviews and approvals of payroll reports, pay slips and bank files.
• Maintain and audit payroll records and documentation to support internal controls and audits (ICFR compliance, SOX).
• Manage month-end and year-end payroll activities, including reports, reconciliation and filings (PF, ESI, TDS).
• Lead initiatives for payroll system enhancements, automation and process improvements, and prepare MIS reports and payroll dashboards for senior management.
• Guide, train and give performance feedback to team members, acting as escalation point for complex or sensitive matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in Latin American countries; US or other country experience is an added advantage.
• Payroll transformation experience, including testing and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Multiple payroll systems; exposure to SAP is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
