Senior Coding Specialist – Remote (Costa Rica)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Coding Specialist based in Costa Rica to ensure high‑quality, compliant clinical trial data across global studies. You will act as the subject‑matter expert for medical coding, overseeing outsourced coding activities and supporting dictionary updates.

Key responsibilities

• Review and guarantee the quality and consistency of coded data delivered by external vendors.
• Provide oversight of outsourced coding, including dictionary and synonym reviews.
• Support MedDRA and WHO Drug Dictionary up‑versioning across multiple studies.
• Identify, escalate, and resolve coding‑related issues with practical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with ICH/GCP, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Life Sciences, Health‑related field, or equivalent experience.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• 5+ years of medical coding experience using MedDRA and WHO Drug Dictionaries.
• Background in a CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage priorities.

Required skills

• MedDRA coding.
• WHO Drug Dictionary coding.
• Experience with coding tools such as Veeva and Medidata RAVE Coder.
