Senior Backend & Data Engineer

About the role

Software Mind is looking for a Senior Backend & Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend systems that power core business workflows and data‑driven products. The role blends hands‑on development with ownership of critical services and close collaboration with product, data, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement reliable, scalable backend services and data pipelines.
• Drive engineering best practices around testing, code quality, performance, and security.
• Improve system observability and troubleshoot production issues.
• Build and maintain data ingestion services using APIs and batch processing.
• Modernize legacy, spreadsheet‑driven workflows with automated, resilient solutions.
• Develop internal dashboards and services for real‑time operational visibility.
• Create automation to reduce manual investigation and enable self‑service for stakeholders.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, and data‑quality checks across pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and operations to align technical solutions with business needs.
• Contribute to technical direction and roadmap planning.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong background in backend engineering and data engineering.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑moving environments while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Proactive ownership mindset and willingness to learn from failures.
• Excellent written and oral English (minimum B2‑C1 level).
