Quality Engineer III – Alajuela, Costa Rica

About the role

Abbott’s Structural Heart Division in Alajuela, Costa Rica is seeking a Quality Engineer III to partner with manufacturing and engineering teams. The role focuses on sustaining product quality, supporting validation activities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal quality system requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct technical and statistical investigations to optimize processes and ensure specification compliance.
• Lead NCMR, calibration out‑of‑tolerance, and complaint investigations related to manufacturing.
• Support major quality system investigations such as CAPA, HHE, and Stop‑Ship actions.
• Prepare and execute internal and external audits.
• Author and execute IQ, OQ, PQ, and PPQ qualifications as well as inspection and test method qualifications.
• Provide supervision to Quality Technicians when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience in medical devices or pharmaceutical quality control.
• 2‑4 years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of statistical and data analysis techniques.
• Experience in writing technical reports and documentation.
