Project Coordinator – Immigration & Border Governance (Internal)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an internal candidate to coordinate its Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) project in Costa Rica. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the Programme Coordinator, the Project Coordinator will ensure effective implementation and monitoring of activities that support safe, regular, and orderly migration.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor the IBG project activities, ensuring alignment with IOM’s strategic objectives.
• Facilitate data collection, surveys, and interviews as part of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) to assess migrant needs.
• Liaise with governmental, inter‑governmental, and non‑governmental partners to promote regular migration pathways.
• Prepare regular progress reports, documentation, and recommendations for project improvement.
• Support the identification and mitigation of risks affecting migrants, including loss of identification documents and vulnerability to criminal networks.

Required profile

• Current internal employee of IOM or equivalent internal‑equivalent status.
• Relevant experience in project coordination, preferably within migration, immigration, or border governance contexts.
• Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with data collection methodologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
