Production Supervisor III (Day Shift)

About the role

Abbott's Structural Heart Division in Alajuela, Costa Rica, is hiring a Production Supervisor III for the day shift. The role leads production teams and keeps standard production processes running so that safety, quality and production volumes are met. It requires training in human resources/people skills, quality systems and manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and correct peers' completion of supervisory duties, including personnel scheduling, discipline evaluation, coaching, selection and training of staff.
• Lead initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance (FDA, TUV, etc.) and report quality issues immediately, co-leading their investigation and resolution.
• Develop and run plans to meet productivity, schedule adherence, quality, cost and service targets while keeping a safe environment, with full ownership of the production area (e.g., gowning, clean corridors).
• Analyze production line leading indicators with a prior or following supervisor to ensure smooth shift transitions.
• Arrange reports on production progress and issues, including daily meetings with staff and peers, and analyze daily metrics to keep processes compliant with standard procedures.

Required profile

• B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Administration or a related field.
• 4-5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a medical device, pharmaceutical or electronics industry.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence peers and other functions toward organizational goals.
• Flexibility to work different shifts and areas is preferred.
• Knowledge of Costa Rican labor laws is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with manufacturing systems used to collect data and control or monitor processes, such as SFA, SAP, Kronos or similar.
• Knowledge of ISO and quality systems under FDA and MDD.
• Desirable: at least one medical-industry certification such as CQE, 6 Sigma Black Belt, Lean Coach or problem-solving techniques.
