Payroll Tax Specialist

About the role

The Payroll Tax Specialist ensures accurate payroll tax processing, reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role serves as the subject‑matter expert for payroll taxes and supports payroll operations across the Bridgestone West region.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and administer imputed income over multiple pay periods and calculate payroll gross‑ups.
• File federal, state, and local payroll tax returns on time and reconcile tax accounts with the general ledger.
• Handle year‑end activities, including W‑2 preparation, reconciliation, and validation of tax calculations.
• Partner with payroll, HR, Finance, and third‑party vendors to resolve tax issues and support system upgrades.
• Maintain documentation, assist with audits, and provide reporting on taxes withheld and outstanding withholdings.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability with attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience processing complex US payrolls for multiple business units under tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently or within a team in a constantly changing environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas).
• Technical aptitude for payroll tax compliance and reconciliation.
