Payment Fraud Data Analyst

About the role

The Payment Fraud Data Analyst supports HP's global fraud prevention initiatives by analysing transaction data, identifying suspicious patterns, and maintaining the fraud detection model. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate payment risk and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform data analysis and data‑mining to detect trends, outliers, and anomalies that indicate fraud risk.
• Conduct ad‑hoc investigative and statistical analytics to support risk investigations.
• Execute link analysis to uncover new fraud patterns when known patterns are violated.
• Develop operational metrics, benchmarking reports, and KPI dashboards for regional or country‑level fraud prevention.
• Adjust, maintain, and validate fraud detection models for real‑time online transactions.
• Optimize the risk model by refining rules to improve decline and loss rates.
• Ensure fraud detection methods comply with industry security regulations and consumer privacy laws.
• Maintain user access to fraud prevention systems and recommend system enhancements.
• Monitor industry trends, coordinate with other departments, and adapt to policy changes affecting the model.

Required profile

• Experience in data analysis, statistical analytics, and risk investigation.
• Ability to develop and maintain fraud detection models.
• Knowledge of financial industry security regulations and consumer privacy requirements.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for reporting trends to stakeholders.
