Model Based Software Engineer

About the role

Joby is seeking a Model Based Software Engineer to develop safety‑critical software for its advanced air‑mobility aircraft. You will work closely with flight control, certification, flight test, and software verification teams to turn requirements into reliable, flight‑ready code.

Key responsibilities

• Compose, decompose, and map system requirements.
• Write, execute, and optimise automated tests, including Monte Carlo analyses.
• Analyse simulation and flight‑test results and produce concise, justified summaries.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance with certification standards.
• Develop and maintain model‑based designs using MATLAB and Simulink.

Required profile

• BSc in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail, and excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience with linear and control systems (preferred 3+ years).
• Familiarity with software testing practices, especially Test‑Driven Development.
