Lead Systems Engineer

About the role

Syniverse is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, and operation of software‑defined data‑center (SDDC) initiatives. The role focuses on VMware infrastructure, automation platforms, and collaboration with senior engineers to ensure stable, secure, and high‑performing environments.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to gather technical requirements and shape infrastructure architecture.
• Refine processes and code to enhance the automation platform.
• Handle trouble tickets and coordinate with vendor support.
• Patch and maintain VMware components including VCF, NSX, vCenter, and ESXi.
• Support troubleshooting efforts alongside infrastructure and application development teams.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis meetings and document findings.
• Develop KPI dashboards and monitor performance of server, storage, and virtualization environments.
• Provide technical support for server, storage, and virtualization changes.
• Maintain technical documentation and follow Syniverse change‑control policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of IT experience with a focus on systems engineering.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience maintaining and patching VMware infrastructure.
• Experience with Aria Automation, Aria Ops, and strong knowledge of VCF and NSX.
• Solid understanding of DNS, networking, IP layers, and L2/L3 protocols.
• Familiarity with Dell or HPE hardware platforms.
• Experience in Linux/Unix system administration and software development.
