iSeries System Operator

About the role

Fiserv is looking for an iSeries System Operator to join its Technical Operations team. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the IBM i (iSeries/AS400) production environment that powers the Signature core banking platform, ensuring daily processing runs smoothly and systems remain highly available.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor IBM i production environments and oversee daily processing cycles.
• Execute end‑of‑day, beginning‑of‑day and scheduled batch jobs.
• Manage job queues, output queues, spool files and system messages.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents, escalating when necessary.
• Participate in on‑call rotations for mission‑critical banking applications.
• Collaborate with developers, infrastructure engineers and client‑facing teams during incident resolution.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks and processing procedures.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives focused on automation and monitoring.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience supporting IBM i (iSeries/AS400) production environments.
• Proven experience with batch processing and high‑availability enterprise applications.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities in a 24x7 support setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) and 5250 emulation.
• DB2 for i database administration.
• Job scheduling platforms and batch automation tools.
• ITIL Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management practices.
