Hardware Program Coordinator - Document Control

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Hardware Program Coordinator for its Enterprise Storage team, supporting new product development and sustaining engineering of complex enterprise storage systems. The role covers hardware development, prototype builds, product changes and lifecycle support, coordinating mechanical and electrical documentation, bills of material (BOMs), purchasing, suppliers, contract manufacturers, engineering changes, PLM records and build schedules. It is a hybrid position with about two days per week in an HPE office.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate material readiness, procurement and lifecycle management for mechanical and electrical hardware across new product development, prototypes, product changes and sustaining engineering.
• Partner with mechanical and electrical engineering, program management and release management to define configurations, build quantities, milestones, schedules, part numbers and assembly structures.
• Create, maintain and release part numbers, BOMs, engineering change documentation, specifications, drawings and product records in Agile PLM and Windchill PLM.
• Manage RFQs, evaluate supplier and contract manufacturer quotes, support vendor selection and track cost, delivery, quality and technical issues.
• Create, track, reconcile and close purchase orders, material requests and purchasing-card transactions, verifying commodity and general ledger coding.
• Identify long-lead components and material-availability risks, expedite orders and escalate schedule or availability threats.
• Maintain mechanical, PCB and PCA prototype and sustaining build schedules, confirming materials, stack-ups, programmable content and special build instructions are ready.
• Coordinate BOM, drawing and configuration changes with suppliers and contract manufacturers, including secure transfer of controlled release data.
• Act as the main coordination point across engineering teams, program managers, suppliers and contract manufacturers, and support invoice readiness, RMAs, customs classifications, lab equipment acquisition and quarter-end purchasing deliverables.
• Develop and improve repeatable processes for documentation control, procurement, configuration management, supplier coordination and prototype builds.

Required profile

• Experience in hardware project coordination, hardware program management, engineering operations, new product development, sustaining engineering, prototype operations, procurement or manufacturing operations.
• Working knowledge of BOMs, part numbers, engineering change orders, configuration management, purchasing workflows, material planning and supplier management.
• Experience coordinating prototype, pre-production or sustaining hardware builds involving mechanical parts, electronic components, PCBs or PCAs.
• Ability to manage concurrent schedules, purchase activities, dependencies, risks and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail in technical documentation and cost tracking, and collaboration with engineering, program management, release management, finance, suppliers and contract manufacturers.

Preferred qualifications

• Enterprise storage, server, networking or data-center hardware experience.
• Hands-on experience with Agile PLM, Windchill PLM, SAP S/4 or similar PLM/ERP systems.
• Knowledge of PCB/PCA manufacturing, contract manufacturing, component sourcing and electronics hardware development.
• Familiarity with engineering change orders, controlled technical data, build instructions, RMA workflows, customs classifications or supplier agreements.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, project tracking tools, purchasing systems and supplier performance reporting.
