Fire Alarm Systems Designer

About the role

Power Design is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Designer to lead fire alarm design and installation projects nationwide. You will review original layouts, ensure code compliance, and coordinate with customers, project teams, and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate optimal design solutions while balancing customer needs and budget constraints.
• Act as primary lead, providing technical assistance throughout bidding, design, permitting, and construction phases.
• Guide and support team members on design direction and best practices.
• Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and inspecting authorities.

Required profile

• 5+ years designing design‑build fire alarm systems, including high‑density, high‑rise, and smoke control projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a construction‑related field preferred.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Current U.S. visa and ability to travel internationally as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Revit experience is a plus.
• NICET Level II or Level III certification highly preferred.
• Strong electrical design fundamentals and familiarity with electrical equipment installation.
• Knowledge of local building codes and construction safety requirements, including IBC and IECC.
