Facilities & Maintenance (Reliability) Engineer 1

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position supports the reliability of physical assets at our facility in Zona Franca Metropolitana, Barreal, Heredia. The engineer will develop and implement strategies to improve asset reliability, reduce costs, and drive data‑based decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze recurring failures using RCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA and RCM.
• Develop, monitor and report on RAM indicators, uptime, maintenance cost ratios, unplanned downtime cost, energy consumption, and lifecycle cost metrics.
• Support critical failure investigations and define corrective actions with interdisciplinary teams.
• Create preventive and predictive maintenance plans based on asset criticality.
• Maintain condition‑monitoring programs (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis) and use CMMS for data integrity.
• Prepare technical and financial reports for management review and equipment substitution.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental standards.
• Conduct spare‑parts inventory audits, manage minimum/maximum levels and liaise with suppliers for quotations.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, reliability engineering or related fields.
• Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and statistical analysis with Minitab.
