Elixir Backend Engineer (Remote, Latin America)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Elixir Backend Engineer to join our client’s remote development team serving U.S. companies. The role is fully remote, focused on building and maintaining robust APIs that power mobile applications built with React Native.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Implement and evolve RESTful and GraphQL APIs for mobile and web clients.
• Integrate third‑party services and APIs, ensuring reliable data exchange.
• Work with PostgreSQL and Ecto to model, query, and optimise relational data.
• Write automated tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Docker and modern tooling.
• Collaborate daily with designers, front‑end engineers, and product owners in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Refactor legacy codebases to improve reliability, maintainability, and scalability.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven production experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Advanced English communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience building backend services for mobile applications (React Native).
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, can‑do attitude.
