Design Director - Workplace Interiors

About the role

Gensler is seeking a Design Director to lead collaborative teams focused on workplace interiors. Based in our San José office, you will shape innovative design strategies, mentor emerging talent, and champion sustainability across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead creative efforts from programming and strategic planning through design development and production.
• Serve as the primary design liaison with clients and consultants, representing Gensler in meetings and presentations.
• Drive client development, marketing, and project interview activities.
• Champion diversity, inclusion, and climate‑focused design goals.
• Advise on sustainable design practices and integrate design resilience and purpose into every project.
• Collaborate with Design Technology and Resilience specialists to embed best‑practice tools and workflows.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading design teams on architecture and interior projects.
• Strong ability to conduct strategic conversations about sustainability and social impact.
• Proven mentorship skills and commitment to talent development.
