Data Scientist (I) – Advanced Analytics & AI/ML

About the role

Samtec is seeking a Data Scientist (I) to support and develop advanced analytics and AI/ML solutions across the organization. You will transform raw data into actionable insights, enabling data‑driven decision making in manufacturing, sales, and marketing.

Key responsibilities

• Connect data insights across teams, communicating gaps upstream and downstream.
• Assist with corporate reporting and dashboard creation.
• Design and implement machine learning algorithms and statistical models to solve critical business problems.
• Participate in data collection, preprocessing, and cleaning activities.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover patterns, correlations, and trends.
• Prepare clear reports and presentations for business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand needs and deliver analytical solutions.
• Stay current with emerging technology trends.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in a data role, preferably within sales, marketing, or manufacturing.
• Strong independent work ethic and proven leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and detail‑orientation.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field (experience may substitute for education).

Required skills

• Extensive experience with Redshift or SQL (Redshift preferred).
• Production‑quality Python or R programming (Python preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
