Clinical & Medical AI Expert

About the role

At TELUS Digital, the Clinical & Medical AI Expert ensures that artificial intelligence used in healthcare delivers medically accurate results. You will work with a community of clinicians and AI specialists to train and validate large language models on diagnostic, pharmacological and patient‑care data.

Key responsibilities

• Audit AI “chain‑of‑thought” reasoning for medical diagnostics to ensure compliance with international clinical protocols such as ICD‑11 and DSM‑5.
• Verify AI‑generated drug interactions, dosage recommendations and contraindications against peer‑reviewed literature.
• Label complex biomedical datasets—including MRI/CT images, pathology reports and genomic data—to improve visual‑spatial reasoning of models.
• Identify and mitigate “medical hallucinations” by creating safety guardrails that prevent harmful AI outputs.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MD/MBBS), Pharmacy (PharmD), Nursing or Biomedical Sciences.
• Native‑level proficiency (C2+) in your primary language to interpret regional medical terminology.
• English proficiency of at least B1 for technical research and reporting.
• Successful completion of a subject‑specific qualification exam and identity verification.

Required skills

• Experience with training or fine‑tuning Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Medical data annotation and labeling.
• Knowledge of clinical coding systems (ICD‑11, DSM‑5).
