Child Protection Officer – Fixed Term – San Jose, Costa Rica

About the role

The Child Protection Officer will support UNICEF’s mission in Costa Rica by advancing programmes that safeguard children from violence, exploitation and abuse, and by promoting their rights.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning for child protection initiatives.
• Manage programme implementation, monitoring and delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational guidance to field teams.
• Build networks, advocate and establish partnerships with government, NGOs and the private sector.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, law, human rights, social sciences or a related field.
• At least two years of professional experience in programme planning, implementation or management in child protection.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Experience in UN agencies or international child‑rights organisations is an asset.
• Knowledge of an additional UN language or emergency‑context experience is desirable.
