CAD and Manufacturing Team Lead

About the role

Joby is seeking a CAD and Manufacturing Team Lead to drive the growth and performance of its engineering team. You will work closely with cross‑functional groups—including drafting, design, tooling, and quality—to ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and quality targets while supporting the company’s launch of vertical‑takeoff air taxis.

Key responsibilities

• Meet engineering requirements and execute strategic business goals while managing a team of engineers.
• Lead team development through technical challenges, career planning, and objective setting.
• Define roadmaps, create efficiencies, and oversee the CAD‑MFG‑CMS team as a cohesive unit.
• Conceptualize and manage multiple simultaneous projects, delivering on specifications, time, and budget.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify CAD, manufacturing, and CMS support needs and prioritize workload.
• Apply PMP project‑management methodologies, coach team members, and ensure clear scope and deliverables.
• Produce KPI reports, present results to management, and conduct performance reviews.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a people manager in an engineering environment.
• Project‑management experience using PMP methodologies.
• 5+ years experience as an engineer or in drafting/design roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace or related field.
• Proven ability to create and implement new processes and provide technical training.

Required skills

• CAD software: Autodesk Inventor, PTC Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, CATIA V5/V6, ENOVIA.
• Data analysis and visualization: Power BI, Power Apps.
• Scripting/Data Management: Python.
• Project‑management tools and PMP methodology.
• Engineering drawing standards (ASME).
