Business Analyst – FP&A R&D

About the role

AstraZeneca is seeking a Business Analyst for Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) within its R&D function. Based in the Global Financial Services centre in San José, you will support monthly financial analysis, reporting, and planning cycles for the research and development organization.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end close activities, including journal entry preparation, posting, and variance analysis.
• Validate and consolidate P&L figures, ensuring alignment with R&D assumptions before sign‑off.
• Prepare and present forecast and budget data, delivering clear commentary and business insights for senior management.
• Coordinate data from multiple sources, produce management information packs, and analyse deviations between forecasts and actuals.
• Continuously improve FP&A processes and reporting tools to enhance decision‑making speed and accuracy.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Excellent communication skills to convey financial insights to scientists and business partners.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines during close and planning cycles.
• Understanding of R&D financial dynamics is advantageous.
