About the role

Excel Nearshore is seeking a Backend WordPress Developer to support a website refresh for a U.S.-based medical device design and manufacturing company. The role is fully remote and focuses on building a scalable, high‑performance backend architecture for a custom WordPress site.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and customize WordPress themes that match the new design and content structure.
• Configure backend functionality to support site architecture and content management.
• Ensure responsive behavior and seamless integration with front‑end components.
• Optimize website performance, loading speed, and SEO fundamentals.
• Set up CMS features that enable internal teams to update content easily.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development and deployment.
• Collaborate with designers and front‑end developers to guarantee accurate implementation.

Required profile

• Strong experience in WordPress development, especially custom theme creation.
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet tight project timelines.
• Experience with website rebuilds or refresh projects.
