Backend Developer (Python)

About the role

Applaudo, an AI-native organization building AI-powered solutions, is looking for a skilled Backend Developer with strong Python expertise. The role focuses on designing APIs, building microservices, orchestrating background tasks and integrating systems in cloud environments, with close collaboration with a US-based team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain reliable backend services and REST APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Build and maintain microservices supporting enterprise applications, integrations and data and analytics operations.
• Implement database access and persistence layers with SQLAlchemy and relational databases.
• Develop and manage asynchronous tasks, scheduled jobs and background processing with Celery.
• Support ETL processes and data workflow orchestration.
• Integrate applications with third-party APIs and Azure services, with authentication and access controls.
• Containerize applications with Docker and deploy and run services in Kubernetes.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve reliability and optimize performance.
• Maintain documentation of APIs, integrations and technical decisions.
• Communicate progress, blockers and risks proactively.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience developing backend applications and services with Python.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices and third-party API integration.
• Experience deploying services in Kubernetes and working knowledge of Docker.
• Hands-on experience with Azure as the primary cloud platform.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to collaborate with a US-based team.
