Applications Engineer III

About the role

The Applications Engineer III is a senior‑level position that blends technical leadership, customer‑facing engagement, and client experience management. Working closely with the sales team, you will drive new business by creating innovative proposals, accurate cost estimates, and managing the full customer lifecycle as the single point of contact for assigned accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large‑scale automation projects, ensuring on‑time delivery, technical accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
• Provide expert technical consultation for complex customer challenges and develop innovative concepts that meet both technical and commercial requirements.
• Develop and manage ROM, budgetary, and firm‑fixed‑price proposals, including cost estimates, risk assessments, and SLA/TAT compliance.
• Partner with sales to identify and qualify opportunities, attend customer meetings, and present Ascential’s value propositions.
• Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing to verify proposal feasibility and act as liaison between internal teams and customers.
• Mentor junior applications engineers and ensure consistent work quality.
• Manage post‑sale activities such as MBRs, QBRs, change orders, issue escalation, and conduct 30‑ and 90‑day post‑delivery check‑ins.
• Track scope changes, capture revenue, and prospect expansion opportunities within assigned accounts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, project management, or proposal writing for custom automation or engineered solutions.
• Strong background in automation systems for the Medical & Life Sciences sectors.
• Proven track record delivering complex technical projects from concept through delivery.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
