AI Solutions Engineer

About the role

Harris is seeking a hands‑on AI Solutions Engineer to design and build the platform for next‑generation AI‑enabled healthcare products. You will own the API and AI gateways, orchestrate AI agents in production, and lead a growing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement CareTracker's API gateway with routing, authentication (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT), rate limiting, quotas, versioning and monitoring.
• Build an AI gateway on LiteLLM (or similar) to route traffic across model providers (Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI), with caching, cost tracking and PHI redaction.
• Develop AI agents and multi‑agent workflows, including tool calling, planning, state management and human‑in‑the‑loop steps.
• Integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers/clients for safe data access and add full observability using OpenTelemetry and Langfuse.
• Write production code in Python.NET (C#) and TypeScript, set coding standards, and define secure API exposure for existing services (Oracle, Postgres, HL7, FHIR, labs, eRx, claims).
• Engage with external healthcare customers and internal stakeholders on FHIR, HL7, HIPAA and PHI handling.
• Lead, mentor and train a small AI engineering team.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years building distributed systems or platform services.
• Strong background in Python (6+ years) and .NET (C#) development.
• Proven experience designing and operating API gateways (Azure API Management, Kong, Envoy, NGINX) with security and rate‑limiting features.
• 3+ years working with observability tools for AI systems (OpenTelemetry, Langfuse).
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs (Anthropic Claude, Azure OpenAI) and LLM routing proxies (LiteLLM).
• 3+ years building AI agents using frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
• Experience mentoring engineers and communicating technical designs to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• 2+ years working in healthcare IT (FHIR, HL7, HIPAA, PHI).
