System Development Manager – Central Technical Operations

About the role

Amazon's Central Technical Operations Services (CTOS) is looking for an experienced System Development Manager to lead the Costa Rica site for its 24x7 global operations team. You will manage a team of engineers and analysts, own local facilities, and ensure rapid incident resolution while representing the site to global CTOS leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, develop and retain a high‑performing team of 5–13 engineers and analysts.
• Lead on‑site facilities coordination, operations center management and local issue resolution.
• Drive incident response, own the customer experience during incidents, and improve Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
• Partner with AWS, internal retail services, Customer Support and Worldwide Operations to coordinate major events such as Prime Day.
• Manage programs that enhance monitoring, detection, issue localization and mitigation.

Required profile

• 5+ years managing system or software development teams.
• 3+ years of systems engineering and operations leadership for an Internet service or leading‑edge IT organization.
• 7+ years of hands‑on experience with networking, storage systems and operating systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

• Full software development life‑cycle best practices (coding standards, source control, continuous deployment, testing).
