Senior OTC Associate – Collections

About the role

Smith+Nephew is seeking a Senior OTC Associate to manage high‑value, delinquent distributor accounts in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The role focuses on debt recovery, account reconciliation and close collaboration with sales, customer service and billing teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Handle multiple hard‑delinquent accounts, investigating reasons for delinquency and contacting customers to resolve issues.
• Perform collection activities such as phone calls, negotiation, and taking payments where applicable.
• Prepare and send invoice copies, statements of account, packing slips, and other documentation.
• Maintain accurate notes and documentation of all collection actions.
• Work with sales and customer service to address billing disputes, price discrepancies, invalid purchase orders and product questions.
• Recommend account suspensions and coordinate with the supervisor on accounts to be sent to collection agencies.
• Participate in weekly huddles, finance town halls and team meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or currently studying.
• Minimum 3 years of B2B collections (OTC) experience.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Ability to work in an office environment and operate a computer for extended periods.
