Refrigeration Utility Technician III

About the role

Cargill is seeking a Refrigeration Utility Technician III to maintain and troubleshoot its industrial ammonia refrigeration systems at the San Antonio del Tejar facility in Alajuela. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of cooling equipment while meeting strict environmental and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex maintenance, preventive, predictive and reactive work on industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Document all work, conditions, and findings using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Operate forklifts and scissor lifts safely while following standard production procedures.
• Support wastewater and water‑treatment processes related to the refrigeration plant.
• Provide feedback to management on system performance and suggest improvements.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement projects aligned with business strategy.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Experience with CMMS and Process Safety Management applications.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid certifications for refrigeration operations and forklift operation.
