Managing Director – Medical Device Operations

About the role

The Managing Director will lead the medical device site in Costa Rica, overseeing all aspects of operations, quality, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. This senior position is responsible for driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically lead manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and financial functions to ensure site performance.
• Develop and execute site‑level strategies aligned with global objectives, focusing on scalability and cross‑regional alignment.
• Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual business plans, KPIs, and continuous‑improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma).
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee profitability analysis, cost management, and margin‑improvement projects.
• Lead commercial activities, including negotiations and strategic customer engagements.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, and local regulations.
• Build and develop a high‑performance team, supporting talent development and succession planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in medical device manufacturing or highly regulated environments.
• At least 7 years in senior leadership roles such as Plant Manager, Site Leader, or General Manager.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1‑C2) and experience working with multicultural, geographically distributed teams.
• Strong financial acumen, including P&L management and cost‑optimization.
