Senior Software Engineering Manager – Azure Product Owner

About the role

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager who will also act as Product Owner for its Azure Cloud Platform. The role is based in Costa Rica and follows a hybrid work model, combining on‑site collaboration with remote flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of DevOps and cloud software engineers, fostering continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Architect, deploy, and maintain Azure account management, networking, ingress/egress, and service provisioning across more than 600 global accounts.
• Define and enforce global configuration guardrails, operational and security observability, and 24/7 operational support.
• Partner with business units, Microsoft, and internal security, privacy, legal, and operations stakeholders to align Azure consumption with regulatory requirements.
• Develop policy‑based controls, service‑catalog code standards, reusable artifacts, and CI/CD pipelines for self‑service consumption.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ISO, GDPR and Azure guidance, and run a FinOps practice to monitor and optimise cloud spend.
• Write and maintain code to reduce cost, technical debt, improve security posture, manage configuration drift, and enhance inventory management.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level leadership experience managing cloud or DevOps engineering teams.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure services and large‑scale cloud architecture.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, ISO, and GDPR.
• Experience implementing FinOps practices and cost‑optimization strategies.
• Ability to collaborate across cross‑functional stakeholders and drive product ownership.
