Senior Data Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability, scalability and performance of our data platforms built on Databricks and Microsoft Azure. The role combines deep technical expertise with a strong focus on automation, monitoring and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, scalability and performance of Databricks‑based data platforms on Azure.
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure and automated deployment processes using Azure DevOps and Terraform.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data workloads and cloud environments, supporting incident and release management.
• Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams to drive operational excellence, cost optimisation and continuous platform enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering or a similar technical role.
• Strong expertise in SQL querying, optimisation and performance tuning.
• Proficient scripting skills in Python and Bash for automation.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including environment management and project administration.
• Extensive experience with Terraform and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (compute, storage, networking, containerisation).
• Experience with Databricks technologies such as Unity Catalog, Delta Lake and Lakehouse Federation.
• Proven track record in incident management, post‑mortems, run‑books and stakeholder communication.
• Experience coordinating production releases and ensuring stable deployment cycles.
