Import & Export Specialist I – International Shipping

About the role

Abbott’s Electrophysiology division in Alajuela, Costa Rica is seeking an Import & Export Specialist I to manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with local Free Zone regulations and smooth logistics flow.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update negotiated international freight rates, providing cost and service options.
• Prepare and manage export documentation (invoices, packing lists, certificates, customs declarations, AWB/BOL) in compliance with Costa Rica Free Zone requirements.
• Liaise with customs agents and government authorities (Health, Agriculture) to obtain approvals and ensure timely clearance of regulated products.
• Track in‑transit shipments end‑to‑end and coordinate local transportation between Free Zone locations, airports, ports, and bonded warehouses.
• Maintain export records for audits (e.g., Procomer, DGA, EY) and support Finance with asset‑related information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Customs, or related field (or technician degree with ≥75% completion).
• 0–2 years of experience in import/export, freight forwarding, or customs compliance.
• Intermediate command of English.
