Fire Alarm Application Engineer I

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Alarm Application Engineer I to support its Sales and Engineering teams on both pre‑sales and post‑sales projects. The role involves technical activities such as take‑offs, drawing production, bill of materials preparation and design work for fire alarm and related low‑voltage systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist on Request for Proposals by performing take‑offs, creating bills of material and pricing.
• Produce pre‑design, shop, submittal and As‑Built drawings (Spots & Dots) following client standards after site surveys.
• Develop post‑sales design drawings and complete engineering packages for medium and high‑complexity projects.
• Provide technical support to internal and external engineering teams throughout project lifecycles.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• Intermediate proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Business‑level English (B2 or higher) and strong professional communication.
• Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn fire‑alarm system design codes and equipment.

Required skills

• AutoCAD
• Revit (preferred)
• Low‑voltage electrical schematics
• Basic knowledge of fire alarm, access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and building automation systems.
