Buyer I – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Buyer I will support Abbott’s Electrophysiology Division in Alajuela by managing the procurement of both production and non‑production materials. The role covers the full purchasing cycle, from quoting and order placement to supplier performance monitoring, ensuring the division has the supplies needed to manufacture its medical devices.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and place purchase orders according to MRP, requisitions and STOs, confirming delivery dates.
• Coordinate returns of damaged goods, arrange replacements or credits.
• Plan and schedule deliveries to optimise inventory and support production schedules.
• Work with suppliers to maintain supply levels and minimise shortages.
• Monitor supplier performance, communicate issues and take corrective actions.
• Maintain materials filing, administrative support and shift administration.
• Update the supplier database (ASL) as required.

Required profile

• Advanced student with at least 80 % in a Business‑related field such as Supply Chain, Finance or Business Administration.
• Ability to manage the entire purchasing cycle from quotation to order receipt.
• Capability to identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement savings plans.
• Intermediate command of English.
