Agentic AI Developer

About the role

West Monroe is looking for an Agentic AI Developer to design, build, and deploy production‑grade autonomous agent systems that deliver measurable business outcomes. This role goes beyond prompt tuning, focusing on scalable, secure, and observable AI frameworks that integrate with enterprise systems and operate reliably at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement autonomous and semi‑autonomous agent architectures (planner‑executor, supervisor‑worker, tool‑using agents).
• Architect multi‑step reasoning workflows with state management, memory strategies, retry logic and fallback mechanisms.
• Develop and integrate tool‑calling patterns that connect agents to enterprise APIs, databases, CRMs and internal systems.
• Ensure production readiness through logging, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Establish success metrics (accuracy, reliability, latency, cost, user trust) and build evaluation harnesses, regression pipelines and A/B testing frameworks.
• Monitor runtime behavior for token usage, latency, drift and implement guardrails against hallucinations, prompt injection, tool misuse and data leakage.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to translate requirements into effective agent designs and integrate them into AI‑enabled tools and workflows.
• Stay current on generative AI advances, assess emerging tools and contribute to internal standards for agent development and governance.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience building scalable AI solutions.
• Deep understanding of large language model (LLM) behavior, tool orchestration and AI system design.
• Ability to translate business requirements into structured, testable agent solutions.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams and communicating technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
